School Profile

Ishaka Adventist School of Nursing and Midwifery is the only Adventist institution of higher learning found in western Uganda, Bushenyi district.

The school is situated in Bushenyi – Ishaka municipality along Mbarara – Kasese highway about 60km from Mbarara town within Ishaka Adventist Hospital’s main site.

The nursing training school was founded and established in 2000. From 2001 to May 2004, the school was running both general enrollment and comprehensive nursing. From November 2004 the course offered by the school is enrolled comprehensive nursing

The school aims at the development of individual nurses in acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitudes to enable him/her deliver effectively the high quality comprehensive services to the Uganda community. Also training nurses with Christian virtues and the ability to give holistic care to patients both in the hospital and community.

Certificate in General Nursing CN 2½ YEARS Holders of a certificate in any medical related course from a recognized school and registered with the Allied Health Professionals’ Council with a current APL
Certificate in Enrolled Midwifery CM 2½ YEARS Holders of a Diploma in Nursing, Midwifery, Clinical Medicine & psych. nursing and should be registered with their professional bodies.
